Is it worth getting an online Digital Marketing Certification?
Let me first get straight to the point: YES, OF COURSE! Getting an online Digital Marketing Certification is very much worth it!
The landscape of digital marketing has always been in a state of flux with no one being able to accurately predict what is the NEXT big thing. Credits for this ever-changing environment go to technology – something that Digital Marketing is heavily based and dependent on.
So, how does having an online Digital Marketing Certification navigate us better than traditional marketing degree programs?
According to me, there are 3 main benefits!

Benefit #1: Closes skills gap
As we all have noticed, the digital marketing field is constantly changing which mens that we have to continuously learn new skills. Unfortunately, this has rendered older skills to become obsolete.
Online digital marketing courses are able to adapt to these changes much quicker by modifying their content. In comparison, traditional marketing degree programs require a significantly longer period of time in making changes to the school curriculum.
Most of the online digital marketing courses span over a few months which is much shorter compared to the traditional 3 – 4 years marketing degree programs.
This shorter duration results in reduced chances of major transformations in the technological environment once you have completed the course. Hence, you can directly apply what you have learned into the real world immediately without the risk of it becoming irrelevant.
Additionally, this makes it easier for modifications to be made to the course content incase of any significant and sudden technological change.

Benefit #2: Higher in demand in the employer’s eyes
This is especially relevant for college graduates!
All the graduates have a degree so something about your resume needs to stand out from the others for potential employers to pick YOU over others.
Having one or more digital marketing certifications shows potential employers that you have the:
- Passion and drive to take a step further in educating yourself about digital marketing other than just through attending college classes
- Initiative to learn more and to keep up-to-date with what is happening in the technological aspect of the world

Benefit #3: More flexibility while attaining the certification
“Argh I just want to sleep right now 🙁 ”
“All I can think of is going back to my home and crashing right into my bed”
“I do not understand anything that the professor is saying!”
I am very sure many of us have experienced moments like these during classes where we are so tired after staying up late at night to submit an assignment. When the professor is speaking, all we hear are words but nothing is actually registering in our brains.
Attending an online digital marketing course gives us the flexibility to choose when we want to sit down and attend a class. We also get to finish the assignments at our own pace.
In the end, this flexibility results in more efficient learning and also a higher interest in listening to what is being taught.
Final Thoughts
These 3 reasons are why I decided to enroll myself in a Digital Marketing Certification course with International Institute of Digital Marketing (IIDM). I can confidently say that I am enjoying every step of this journey and learning something new in every class. All in all, if you have a passion for digital marketing like me, I hope that this blog of mine has convinced you to sign up for a digital marketing certification course, and maybe right now, you are typing on Google – “Online Digital Marketing Certification course for me” 🙂
