The Meaning of Art
Art is everywhere, even if you may not realize it. The buildings we pass by, the sunsets in the sky, the clothes we wear are all art–it’s all based on your perception. What does art mean to you?
Art is Different For Everyone
For me art is more than a simple pass time; it makes me complete. I paint in various mediums: acrylics, oils, watercolors, charcoal, and pastels. Art allows me to fully express myself in a unique way. Emotions buried deep within me pour out onto the canvas a way words never can. For example, whenever I am joyful my paintings are very colorful and the brush strokes are softer.

are too complicated to simply describe. This is why I chose to illustrate a pastel sunset in the Rocky Mountains. The most beautiful views cannot simply be described; they have to be felt.
What is Digital Marketing?
So what does art have to do with digital marketing? First, let’s begin with defining digital marketing. Digital marketing encompasses using online media channels and digital technologies to promote a product or service. Digital marketing is very versatile, and there are various certifications one can pursue in the digital marketing realm.
Art can help in the digital marketing process, and in turn, digital marketing can help artists.

How is Art Used in Digital Marketing?
A big part of digital marketing includes visuals. Reaching your target market depends on how effectively you grab the attention of your audience. Art allows you to use those visuals to your advantage by allowing you to apply your own unique creativity.
Jeanna Barrett states in her blog, “So much of digital marketing today is driven by visuals. Content on all of the social media platforms performs better when accompanied by great images. As a digital marketer, you need to know how to create and edit your own visuals”.
You have the creative freedom to use art when designing your different posts. The different colors, designs, and pictures speak to your audience in different ways.

How Digital Marketing Can Help Artists?
At the same time, digital marketing is able to help artists as well. As an artist, you need to ask yourself how you can share your artwork with a larger audience.
Anne Carton states in her blog, “Artists are generally not known for their marketing skills. They are creative people who look for innovative ideas rather than ways of taking out art to the masses. But in today’s competitive art world, artists can financially survive only by actively promoting their artworks. Fortunately, they have quick access to digital marketing that they can explore to their advantage”.
Digital marketing allows for artists to share their art with a more global audience in a more efficient and effective means.
Additionally, digital marketing is cost-effective. Most digital marketing channels are free of cost and simply require an internet connection.
