MILLENNIAL ERA – WHAT IT MEANS TO BE AN INFLUENCER

As the world continues to develop, technology has proven to be the key element to the fast evolution of society and corporate industries.
So, it comes as no shock why more millennials are building careers off of social media platforms brought by technology. The most recent and fast-growing field is that of influencers.
Many people still have no clue of who or what influencers are, according to the Google definition, Influencer marketing is a form of marketing where the most focus is given to influential individuals.
These influential individuals have the potential to attract the desired target market by various companies, brands, and fashion lines and focus on doing marketing activities around these influencers.

Most of these influencers get sponsorships from brands, they partner with brands and often receive free products from brands.
They use social media platforms to discuss the products they’ve received, give reviews and often recommend them to their followers.

Influencers tend to be more trustworthy and reliable because brands usually target average influential people, by average I mean- people who are not too distant from the target market in terms of lifestyle and day-to-day activities.
This makes it easier for brands to get larger amounts of clientele because influencers are relatable and persuasive.

So, if you have any interest in becoming an influencer, here are some tips:
o Know what you are passionate about which will set you apart from the rest; often these days we see that a lot of influencers are Make-Up Artists, Fashion Bloggers and so forth.
If that is your passion, you can join in or if not, you can find something that is missing from a certain market and put your energy into that.
o Know which platforms you will use to help yourself become more noticeable.
Many people are currently starting YouTube channels, filming and editing videos for people to watch. Some people have found that Instagram is a better platform and other social platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

o Formulate a strategy and content, as an influencer, you constantly have to know what your strategy is and what type of content you want to produce. Thereafter, consistency will also help set you apart from the rest.
o Learn how to promote and market yourself, you have to be able to know how to make people want to watch you or listen to you. Promoting yourself is great because it also helps you with knowing how to build yourself as a brand as well.

o Lastly is partnering or collaborating with other influencers. This way you can make your work a little more interesting as well as gaining more followers because you are being introduced to the other person/people’s “fan base”.
